Azalea Festival

Honor Heights Park is a stunning 132-acre oasis atop a hill overlooking Muskogee, and home to the well known Azalea Festival each spring. The park comes alive as over 625 varieties of azaleas burst forth with a stunning spectrum of color in one of the most beautiful displays of flowering tress and shrubs in the world. Over 500,000 people come to Honor Heights Park each year to enjoy the over 30,000 blooming azaleas, as well as dogwoods, redbuds and other blooming plants. Held during the month of April, the festival also includes entertainment, arts and crafts, food, carriage rides and more.

Annual Chili & BBQ Cook-Off

Imagine a full day of tasting some of Oklahoma’s best chili and BBQ! The Annual Chili Cook-Off is a day of great food and fun activities for the whole family. The Muskogee Exchange Club hosts the cook-off, raising money for local charities with an event that draws over 10,000 people each year. Teams square off to see who has the best chili and BBQ around, and visitors get to sample the fare! In addition to the great food, families will love the clowns, rides and face painting, great for kids of all ages. Held in conjunction with the Azalea Festival at the Civic Center; just follow your nose!

Art Under the Oaks

The Five Civilized Tribes Museum hosts this annual show and sale of Native American arts and crafts.  Members of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole tribes display paintings, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, baskets and other crafts.  The museum is located on a hill with a spectacular view of Muskogee at the entrance to Honor Heights Park.  The history and art of the Five Civilized Tribes are interpreted at the museum housed in the 1876 building once known as the Union Agency.

Bare Bones International Film Festival

Some of the country’s best films aren’t screened at big budget Hollywood premiers. They’re shown right here in Muskogee at the Bare Bones International Film Festival. A celebration of ingenuity, creativity and talent, the Bare Bones Film Festival is an eleven day showcase of independent motion pictures and music. There are screenings in multiple venues across Muskogee, including the Historic Roxy Theater, The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and Max’s Garage. There is also an opening night reception, filmmaker sponsored parties and special guest parties held throughout the festival.

Muskogee Farmers’ Market

There’s nothing more flavorful than fresh, locally grown produce. At the Muskogee Farmer’s Market, you can pick from the best of the crop. Saturdays and Wednesdays from 8am to 1pm at the Muskogee Civic Center, browse the stands and enjoy fresh, ripe produce, as well as plants, herbs, flowers and bakery goods. Considered the “best kept secret in Muskogee”, the Farmer’s Market bustles with people, eager to enjoy the best and freshest fare in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Renaissance Festival
